Preparing Your Guest Bedroom for Christmas

Create a space that will make your guests want to come back next year.

8th December 2025

Hosting season is well and truly here, and so are your overnight visitors. Form a sanctuary of a room and leave a lasting impression.

Preparing your home for Christmas also means making space for the many visitors to come. Provide them with a home away from home and make them feel at ease, as soon as they step inside. Put together a room where they can unwind and relax after the festivities. Take a look below at some of the ways you can make those last-minute preparations to your guest bedroom.

Layer Up the Bed with Throws and Cushions

Add a selection of soft furnishings and cosy textures for those chilly winter nights.

Combine textures for your cushions, such as a weaveboucle, and velvet, for interest. Drape a throw or two over the end of the bed, so your guests can layer up or down as they please. Choose fabric that will create comfort whilst adding subtle interest. Think thick, cosy weavestextured jacquards, and boucle-effect embroideries.

Ensure a Good Night’s Sleep with Cosy Curtain Fabric

Help your guests feel rested for the busy winter season with the perfect curtain fabric.

Choose a thicker curtain fabric that allows less light in. These are ideal for keeping the heat in and cold out too. A cosy woven design would be ideal, as would a velvet or boucle fabric. Use a rich, earthy palette for a cosier feel. Add interest with a subtle pattern or motif, such as a geometric or textured plain. Alternatively, create a talking point with a more striking jewel-toned fabric, for example.

Brighten the Space with Curated Lighting

Create a soft, comfortable glow throughout.

Forget the big light; evoke a gentle ambiance with several smaller lamps instead. Think bedside lamps, wall mounted sconces, and even twinkling fairy lights. Creating a flow of lighting throughout the room has a cosier effect than big overhead lights. Bedside table lamps are ideal for late night reading and scrolling, too.

Add Thoughtful Touches with Trinkets and Accessories

Leave a lasting impression with finishing touches that show thought and love.

Arrange a bedside station with a pretty lamp, tissues, and reading materials. Scatter decorative trinkets and ornaments throughout the room for a homely feel. Bring the outdoors in with a low maintenance plant or two, such as succulents. Fresh flowers also make for a welcome surprise. Infuse the space with beautiful scents using reed diffusers and candles. Why not give your guests somewhere to get ready for the festivities with a dressing table and chair as well?
