Halloween How To...

19th October 2015

Trick or Treat! Get ready for Halloween with our easy no-sew fabric pumpkins!

This is the perfect craft project to create with the kids; it’s quick, simple and fun!

All you need:

  • 0.30 metres of Zane Tangerine from our Rocco collection
  • 0.50 metres of Ziggy Tango from our Carnaby Collection
  • 0.30 metres of Jazz Jet form our Cube collection
  • 0.10 metres of Ritz Onyx from our Ritz Collection
  • Scissors
  • Elastic bands or a material of your choice to tie the top of the pumpkin
  • Stuffing
  • Tin foil tube
  • Glue
  • Decorations of your choice

Method:

  • First you need to cut out your fabric template, for this you can free hand or use a circular stencil, this doesn’t need to be perfect as you can trim the edges when together.
  • Once you have your circular template you need to add your stuffing to the centre and gather all the fabric together and secure with the elastic band.
  • Plump your pumpkin to your desired shape and add/remove stuffing as required. Pull through the elastic band any lose or bulky fabric.
  • Cut your tube insert to size and cover with fabric, using glue to secure then insert through the top
  • You can now add any extras to the tie or decorate

Choose our recommended fabrics below or pick your own spooky Halloween fabrics from our fabric collections, in orange and black colour palettes.

This Halloween create your very own spooky fabric spiders! A perfect addition to your fabric pumpkins, plus add sparkly touches with glittery spider legs! These make perfect for decorations for your Halloween party.

All you need:

  • 0.20 metres of Velour Grape from our Velour Collection
  • 0.30 metres of Ritz Onyx from our Ritz Collection
  • Scissors
  • Needle & Thread
  • Stuffing
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Glue
  • Googly eyes

Method:Cut out your fabric in a circular shape (varies depending on the size you want) .

  • Once you have your circular template you need to use your needle and thread to sew a running thread around the edges of the material, make sure you leave the last thread longer and showing.
  • Add the stuffing to the centre of the fabric and slowly begin to pull on the thread to pull together the fabric, add more stuffing as you go until the fabric has come together and you are happy with the spider body shape.
  • Secure the bottom with a knot.
  • Place the pipe cleaners on the underside and secure with a knot using your needle and thread, you can twist 2 different colour pipe cleaners together to add extra colour.
  • Choose your google eyes and use glue to stick them to the fabric
  • You can also add any further decoration like glitter or devil horns
