Siobhan Murphy x PT Present: Lock Keeper’s Cottage

Step inside the Lock Keeper’s Cottage, designed by iconic interior designer Siobhan Murphy.

9th February 2026

This cosy hideaway is nestled on the Salterhebble canal. The project was a joint collaboration between Siobhan Murphy and Prestigious Textiles.

Prestigious fabrics remain at the heart of, and run throughout, the charming property. We worked closely alongside Siobhan to select the perfect fabrics for each room. Each scheme was carefully curated. The result? Beautifully formed spaces that invite you inside to sit down, cosy up, and enjoy your stay. Read below as we talk all things Lock Keeper’s with Siobhan.

How did the collaboration with Prestigious Textiles shape the project, and what makes it special?

“I came into the studio at Prestigious quite a few months ago, to look through all the fabrics. Eight hours later, I was still deciding!”

“I think at one point we narrowed it down to, like, 300 samples, so literally the whole table was covered. But I think you need to do that, don't you? You need to see what works well together. That was really special though, working with the team to kind of look at how we layer the window treatments. The blind, the voilecurtains, and so on. How it all works together basically.”

Why were textiles so important to this renovation?

“The Lock Keepers Cottage is really small. It's a very compact, bijou kind of space. So, I knew the impact had to come from the fabrics and the soft furnishings.”

“I wanted it to really flow throughout the whole scheme. Even though we used different colours in every single space, there was still a consistent theme running throughout.”

Would keeping a consistent colour palette be your advice to make a home feel cohesive?

“Yeah, I think so. Because it was quite a neutral, tight colour palette… I knew what I was working with in each room.”

“I knew I wanted the downstairs bedroom to have more of a cosy vibe. That's why we went for more dusky pinks and the rust kind of colours. Keeping to that quite tight colour palette is key. And then, whether you're using an ikat, a stripe, or a floral, if you stick to three or four colours, they kind of just sing.”

Which factors influenced your fabric decisions?

“When I was choosing the fabric, I was thinking about the paint colours that I'd chosen for each room. Then, I was thinking about which colours would match the paint.”

“I’d consider how different textures and patterns would work together as well. And so, what I would do to break it down in each of the rooms, I’d think “what do I need for the window treatments? For blindsvoilescurtains?” I’d then move on to throwscushions, and so on. I didn't obviously want everything to be matching, but I wanted it to be cohesive.”

How does the final space feel?

“The finished cottage feels layered, cosy and quietly elevated.”

“Nothing feels forced or overly styled, It’s relaxed but refined. The fabric definitely plays a major role in the overall atmosphere. One day there was a lady walking her dog past, and I was just doing a bit of styling. She was like “can I just come in and have a look?” and I said “yeah of course.” She came in and went “this just feels like a big hug” and I thought “that is literally what I was going for!””

What are some of your favourite fabrics in the cottage?

“That's a tricky one, because I just think they all work together as a collective!”

Collections featured: Tambo, Brompton

“I love the Carmen design though, the one with peaches, oranges, and greens. It looks like clouds, or a map. Oh, it's so beautiful. And then the Lauder design that I used, which is an embroidery, and it kind of looks like ribbons. On the curtains in the downstairs bedroom, it just looks so pretty.”

Have you got any other exciting projects coming up?

“No, I'm having a year off. No, I’m joking! I'm always busy.”

Collections featured: Rustic Persian, Cord

“I'm doing a few things actually, in my house. Nick, my husband, is finally getting his office, and he wants monochrome, modern art deco. It's really cool because his office used to be a doctor’s surgery, for the lady that had the house built in the 30s’. We've just reopened the door to the dispensary, and that's going to be a secret bookcase. I’m potentially doing a job in Ibiza in summer too. I’m doing lots of talks as well over the next few months, it’s all good fun.”
